Goodyear launched the Goodyear Ultragrip 8 tyres in succession to the UltraGrip 7+ that was a great success. Quite expectedly the Goodyear Ultragrip is loaded with new technologies and one of the interesting feature is the 3D block interlocking system technology or 3D-BIS.
The independent testing body TUV conducted various tests on the UltraGrip 8 and the results were compared with two of its competitors to gauge their level. The wet braking was found to be 4% shorter and the snow braking was 3% shorter while the traction on snow was 5% more and hence suitable for UK’s climatic conditions. The UltraGrip 8 tyres offered 16% more hindrance to aquaplaning on curled roads.
The 3D block interlocking system present in Goodyear UltraGrip 8 tyres is a very advanced technology and solves quite a few issues of winter seasons. Normally the winter tyres offer traction and grip in snow conditions only after a lot of sipes are implemented to such tyres to be able to grip the snow. The sipes may be good for snow conditions but in dry and wet roads the block movement results in a poor feedback. Compared to this the Goodyear 3D-BIT system makes use of pattern of waffle with raised pyramids and holes of rubber inside the sipes. Such an arrangement enables the tyre blocks lock together the moment they come in contact with the road which results in stiffening of the tread pattern and giving better and improved steering response on dry and wet roads.
A press release revealed that Goodyear launched new UltraGrip 8 winter tyre and the first directional tyre with 3D-BIS Technology all over the complete tread pattern for more grip and shorter braking distances. Goodyear’s innovative know-how makes sure that the new UltraGrip 8 responds to the most pressing needs of drivers in a winter tyre and that is better grip and shorter braking distances all the while providing improved braking and handling as well.
The Goodyear Ultra Grip 8 tyres are light in weight and built on carcass structure. They use carcass compounds that have low rolling resistance and result in optimizing fuel economy and emission levels of CO2 is also under check.
The Goodyear Ultra Grip 8 tyres are known for excellent performance and the safety parameters are quite efficient as well. The key requirements are handling and braking in the development of products. The UltraGrip tyres are subjected to stringent and extensive test conditions to test their performances. Even winter tyres are being introduced in continuance of their earlier successes.
The winter season is one that offers maximum challenges to car drivers and road users, as the climate is not suitable for travel and affects the tyre performances. The real threat is the frequent changes in temperatures that can go below zero degrees and deem the tyres almost unusable. For this very reason the users need to keep their cars equipped with highly effective winter tyres. This will ensure top levels of performance even in chilling temperatures and in also in varying winter weather conditions.
